In preparation for the spring melt and summer rains, the Deerwood Soil and Water Association go out and measure the snow pack. Here are Bill Turner and Dale Timmerman doing their work.

This winter of 1996/97 brought a lot of snow. So much that Dale had trouble finding the water sampling stations.

This is an illustration of how deep the snow was this spring.

Here Bill is setting up the solar panel for the water sampling and monitoring station.

Dale is helping out. After they set up the equipment for the spring, they go out onto the field that is the watershed. They measure the amount of snow on the field in a snow survey to calculate the amount of water on the field.
