Life in a QuietCountry Town

It's great!! Imagine yourself stirring in the morning, without all ofthe morning noises of traffic past your house and airliners flying overhead.Imagine not having to jump into your cold car and pull out into the never-endingstream of exhaust fog , facing the daily problems of beating the truckin the next lane to the stop light. Imagine your kids being able to playoutside without your worrying about their safety. Now, just sit back andthink about the way life could be!!

Miami has always been known for its incredible volunteer spirit. Volunteersare the backbone of any community, and while it has not disappeared inthe larger centres, it is so much more in evidence here. Whether it isa sports activity like hockey, curling, 4-H, or other you can be certainthat there is a dedicated bunch of volunteers behind it. Anything worthdoing is worth doing well and the volunteers of Miami are quietly proudof their efforts.

Miami is happy to welcome new businesses and entrepreneurs to the area. The Council of the R.M. of Thompson has been very supportive of the newtechnology, because they see the Internet as the way to preserve the rurallifestyle that everyone here knows and loves. The Internet means that manyjobs no longer have to be centralized in the big cities, and the possibilitiesfor marketing other enterprises over the Internet are endless.

Recreation

Miami has been known since the 1890's as a sports town, and today sportsis still a big part of community living. We have also been fortunate tohave a lot of foresighted people who recognized the need for other facilitiesfor community use, and went the distance to see them constructed. We'vegot facilities that are the envy of towns much larger than our own. Wethink it is just one of the things that makes our town special. The town'sfacilities include:

The Village of Miami also hosts various festivals throughout the year.

The Miami Fair and Rodeo (link) is held in late June every year, andthe Miami Fun and Fiddle Festival, held every Thanksgiving weekend, attractsold-time music enthusiasts from all over the U.S. and Canada. The AnnualArts and Craft Show is also another well attended event, displaying craftsand artwork from many respected artists and artisans from the area.

With so many things going on , it's hard to find time to relax! Butwhen you can, you may enjoy a walk or a drive through some of the mostpicturesque scenery this side of the Rockies. Stroll down the quiet, welltreed, pothole-free paved streets and listen to the laughter of childrenenjoying a game of baseball or hockey. Winter or summer, Miami is a greatplace to be!

Come Out and See Us !

With all of the benefits we've already mentioned, we think Miami isjust about the best place a person could live. Add to this the facts thattaxes are low, the water is good, the streets and highways are smooth, and large fully serviced lots are now available for only$1000.00, we think that Miami is the first place you should visit whenconsidering a move to the country. It's a great place to visit, or raisea family, or retire. Contact the Village of Miami Civic Office at (204)435-2114 for further information. Hope to meet you real soon!
